她正准备转身离开，忽然听见门里传来一阵脚步声，很慢，拖着地走的那种。
然后门开了。
枣儿愣住了。
沈砚之站在门口，穿着一身家常的衣裳，头发有点乱，脸色苍白得吓人，嘴唇干得起了皮。
他扶着门框，看见她，眼睛好像亮了一下，又很快暗下去。
“你……”枣儿张了张嘴，“你怎么了？”
沈砚之张了张嘴，声音沙哑得几乎听不见：“进来吧。”
他转身往里走，脚步虚浮，摇摇晃晃的。
枣儿连忙跟进去，把东西往堂屋桌子上一放，回头看他。
沈砚之已经躺回东厢的床上了，闭着眼睛，眉头皱着，呼吸又重又热。
枣儿伸手探了探他的额头——烫得吓人。
“你发高烧了！”她急道，“什么时候开始的？”
沈砚之睁开眼，看了她一眼，又闭上了。
“昨天晚上。”他说，嗓子像被砂纸磨过。
“吃药了没？”
沈砚之摇摇头。
“看大夫了没？”
又摇摇头。
枣儿急了：“你这人怎么这样！烧成这样也不看大夫，也不吃药，硬扛着？”
沈砚之没说话，只是闭着眼睛躺着。
枣儿站在床边，又气又急，可看着他这副病恹恹的样子，又骂不出口。
“你等着。”她说，“我去给你弄姜汤。”
她转身去了灶房。
灶房跟她走的时候差不多，只是落了一层薄灰，灶台冷锅冷灶的。
她翻了翻，姜还有，就是有点干瘪了。
她切了几片，煮了一大碗姜汤，端到东厢。
沈砚之还躺着，听见动静，睁开眼看她。
枣儿把姜汤放在床边的小几上，扶着他坐起来。"
