“明天我去镇上，”他说，“你跟刘妈在家。药要按时喝，饭要按时吃。”
“我知道。”沈明珠擦擦眼泪，“你……你要小心。”
“嗯。”
屋里陷入沉默。只有油灯的火苗在跳动，发出细微的噼啪声。
沈明珠握着那串铜钱，心里百感交集。
“萧执。”她又开口。
萧执回过头。
沈明珠站起身，走到他面前，把那串铜钱递回去。
“你拿着。”她说，“你出门在外，要用钱。”
萧执看着她，没接。
“我用不着。”他说，“修屋顶，铁匠铺管饭。”
“那也拿着。”沈明珠很坚持，“万一……万一有什么急用呢？”
萧执沉默了一会儿，接过铜钱，从上面解下五枚，递给她。
“这些你留着。”他说，“剩下的我拿着。”
沈明珠接过那五枚铜钱。铜钱很轻，很小，躺在她手心里，温温热热的。
“好。”她说。
萧执把那串铜钱揣进怀里，转身往外走。
“我去看看门闩。”
他出去了。沈明珠站在原地，看着手里的五枚铜钱。
五枚铜钱，能买什么呢？
能买两个馒头？能买一把青菜？还是能买一包针线？
她走到炕边，从枕头下拿出一个小布包，那是她从将军府带出来的，里头装着几件首饰。玉簪，金镯，耳环，都是值钱的东西。
她拿起那支玉簪。羊脂白玉，雕成海棠花的形状，是她及笄那年母亲送的。
她看了很久，然后重新包好，放回枕头下。
这些首饰，不能动。
要留着，万一……万一萧执需要钱救命呢？
她把手里的五枚铜钱也包好，放进怀里，贴着心口放着。
铜钱很硬，硌得胸口疼，但她觉得，很踏实。
萧执回来了，手里提着一桶热水。"
