小杰歪着头看她，等着她说下去。
孟慧换了个说法：“要长到能保护妈妈那么高。”
小杰的眼睛亮了一下。
“保护妈妈？”
“嗯。你不是说自己是男子汉吗？男子汉要长得很高很高，才能保护妈妈。”
小杰低头看了看自己碗里那几根青菜，又抬头看了看孟慧。
他犹豫了一下。
然后他拿起勺子，舀起一根青菜，皱着眉，闭着眼，塞进嘴里。
嚼了两下。
眉头皱得更紧了。
但他没吐出来，硬是咽了下去。
“我吃了！”他张开嘴给孟慧看，“没有了！”
孟慧看着他那个样子，眼眶忽然有点热。
“乖。”她说，“再吃几根。”
小杰的脸立刻垮了下来。
“还要吃啊……”
“再吃三根。三根就好。”
小杰低头数了数碗里的青菜。一共四根。他吃掉了一根，还剩三根。
“那……那好吧。”
他又舀起一根，这次没有闭眼，但眉头还是皱着的。嚼嚼嚼，咽下去。
“还有两根！”
孟慧点点头。
第三根。第四根。
吃完最后一根，小杰把勺子一放，长长地呼出一口气，像是完成了一项艰巨的任务。
“吃完了！”
孟慧笑了。
“真棒。”
小杰得意地晃了晃脑袋，又拿起勺子，继续吃他的鸡蛋羹。
吃到一半，他忽然想起什么，抬起头。"
